McCord’s history

McCord is a small hamlet in south-central Saskatchewan, about a mile south of Highway 18 and set between Ferland and Glentworth. The community takes its name from James Samuel "Jim" McCord, an early rancher who homesteaded in the area.

Today McCord still has a good number of services for its size. There is a multi-purpose town hall, a grocery store, a greenhouse, and a Co-Op with a small farming and hardware section and gas pumps. The town museum keeps historical artifacts and items from the CPR railway, a nod to the area's past. Visitors can use the small campground, and the community has two churches. Its arena once hosted hockey, skating, rodeos and curling.
